How the path is long

Second edition of the transcription of a lecture given by Martial Raysse on 13th May 1984 at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. It presents a parallel between the quest for faith and for art, between the path taken by Paul on the road to Damascus and the journey of the artist. The first edition of this text appeared in 1992 in the collection L’art en écrit published by éditions Jannink, Paris. A founding member of the Nouveaux Réalistes (alongside Arman, François Dufrêne, Raymond Hains, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, Jacques de la Villéglé and Yves Klein), Martial Raysse, born in 1936 in Golfe-Juan (France), lives and works in Issigeac (France).
