What is Left is a sculpture from the series System of Attachment (2019-2021), about the muscle of love, attraction and attachment. Like the lyrics to the song by Dutch electronic band Spectral Display, “It Takes a Muscle to Fall in Love”, What Is Left refers to love as a force that is tender, violent, tragic and comical, all at once.
This force of love is a squeezing together, a pressing-into one another. It is an urge and an effort to become something else, together. The shape of the sculpture recalls an ice cream cone, reminding us that love is also something that we consume, and are consumed by.
