In the summer of 2026, the museum will give carte blanche to artist Daniel Buren (born in 1938). The reputation of this French contemporary artist extends far beyond national borders. Known for his signature – white and colored vertical stripes – Buren’s in situ work explores the notions of place, framing, and context in art. Leading figure of conceptual art, Buren has transformed public spaces and museums around the world, playing with perception, architecture, and light. For this carte blanche, Daniel Buren will present a brand-new in situ creation that will engage in dialogue with the museum’s collections.
