Nevelson

Nevelson emigrated with her family from Czarist Russia to the United States in 1905, settling in Rockland, Maine. In 1920, she moved to New York, where she studied theater before joining the Art Students League. In the early 1930s, Nevelson traveled through Europe and briefly attended Hans Hofmann’s school in Munich, before returning to New York in 1932, where she studied again with Hofmann.
