Judit Reigl

Born in 1923 in Kapuvár (Hungary), JUDIT REIGL moved to Paris in 1950 and then to Marcoussis in 1963 where she died in 2020.

Her work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions in museums and institutions such as the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris (2018), les Abattoirs, Musée - Frac Occitanie Toulouse (2016-2017), the Allen Memorial Art Museum (Oberlin, USA, 2016), the Ludwig Museum of Contemporary (Budapest, 2014), the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes (2010), the Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art (Debrecen, Hungary, 2010) and the Centre Pompidou (1994).

Her works are present in prestigious collections in France: Centre Pompidou (Paris), Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, MAC VAL (Vitry-sur-Seine), Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Caen, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon, Musée Fabre (Montpellier), Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain de Strasbourg, Fonds National d’Art Contemporain, and various FRAC (Auvergne, Brittany, Centre, Haute-Normandie, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Picardie); and in the world: Tate Modern (London), Ludwig Museum of Contemporary (Budapest, Hungary), MoMA (New York), Guggenheim Museum (New York), Met (New York), Museum of Fine Arts (Houston, USA), Cleveland Museum of Art (USA), Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec, Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal (Canada), among others.

Laureate of the 2011 Kossuth Prize and the Prix d’honneur AWARE 2017, Judit Reigl was awarded Commandeur de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2016 and Chevalier de l’ordre national du Mérite in 2018.

kamel mennour represents exclusively and internationally Judit Reigl, in collaboration with the Fonds de Dotation Judit Reigl, “légataire universel de l’œuvre et détenteur du droit moral”.

The Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin will devote a solo exhibition to her, “Centers of Dominance”, from 29 June to 8 October 2023.
